Ohio Hotspots: Where Citizens Fight Planned or Built Pyrolysis/Gasification Operations

SOBE Thermal plans a waste-to-energy pyrolysis plant in both Lowellville and Youngstown, Ohio

Why did the mayor “give” a Dublin energy dealer a $1.2 million "driveway" on McGaffney Ave.? Will the next “gift” be a Norfolk Southern-rail serviced
$300 million 100,000-square-foot co-generation plant on 366 acres across
from the new Riverfront Park/Canoe Livery? This SOBE Thermal Energy LLC
pyrolysis operation would "superheat” shredded tires, 7 types of plastics,
computers, railroad ties, carpet and E-waste into commercial products such
as syngas, carbon black, coke, and gypsum salt. READ MORE >

Gary, Indiana Fought Fulcrum Bioenergy and WON

Gary Advocates for Responsible Development (GARD), activists and environmental advocates, are glad that Fulcrum Centerpoint BioEnergy’s plans for a plastics-to-fuels plant in Gary, Indiana filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and failed to meet city requirements. For years these activists alerted the public to the dangers of this pyrolysis. Fulcrum laid nearly all its staff and its Sierra BioFuels Plant in Storey County, Nevada, shut down in mid-May.

A billboard outside of SpaceX headquarters targeted Elon Musk's plans for planet colonization on Earth Day: 'Mars sucks'

'I love you earth' by Yoko Ono + 'mars sucks': two billboards to celebrate earth day 2021

To celebrate world earth day 2021, well-known artist yoko ono and LA-based creative agency activista have each launched billboard artworks, featuring quotes that highlight today’s environmental crisis. standing in various locations across the UK, the billboard series by yoko ono makes a simple yet bold declaration: ‘I love you earth’. meanwhile, activista has installed a billboard outside spaceX’s california headquarters which reads ‘mars sucks’, as an attempt to criticize elon musk’s plans on colonizing the red planet and to emphasize that the earth should be prioritized.

Planet Earth has given us every wonderful, miraculous, delicious thing to survive. Why abandon our planet & accept hellish exile on a barren, cold desert planet?

Mars sucks.
Its weather sucks. Its distance sucks. Its atmosphere
sucks. The little water it has, sucks.

It has sucked for billions of years. And will suck for billions more.

You know what doesn't suck? Me, Earth.

| have life, vast oceans and lush forests, water, air.
1 give you absolutely everything that you need.

But the way you treat me? Totally sucks.

Your stupid, insatiable greed is killing me.
For what? So that you can turn my
abundant life into dead cash.

And then, you dream of Mars. A hellhole. A barren,
desolate, wasteland you can't set foot on fast enough.

Why not use some of that creative energy and billions on saving me? You know, the planet that's giving you what you need to live right now.

Mars can wait. I can't.
